We are a boating club who enjoys the comradery of the fellowship of boaters. Here are some of our activities that take place in Colorado and distant waters.

Colorado Boating and Sailing

Sailing School

Each year our members enjoy several on the water sailing, paddling, and power boating events in and around Colorado. For a partial list of lakes see the Colorado Sailing Guide on our Community Forum.

Sailing Rendezvous' and Buddy Boating

Sailing Elsie

Every other year (or more) we have a Boating Rendezvous at cruising destinations out of state. Recent trips have included Catalina Island, California, The Great Lakes, and cruising out of Mt Desert, Maine. These events are usually coordinated by an experienced member and may include trailering a boat or chartering, depending on the preferences. There are also many opportunities for Buddy Boating where a member will be traveling to a location and inviting other members to join them for some or all of the event.

Membership meetings: Members, guests, and visitors are welcome to attend regular meetings which are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month, except during the summer boating months. The current meeting place is the United Methodist Church in Boulder, Colorado. Link to Google map: Meeting Location

Officer Bridge meetings: Usually held the first Thursday of each month. The business needs of BVSPS are discussed and voted upon. All members are welcome to attend and join in discussion, but the voting is left to the elected officers.

USPS District and National Meetings: Usually held once per year to include many activities such as Boat Operators training, CPR & First Aid, etc.

Social Events

Year round social events are often pot-luck, camping, recreation, gatherings which may be included in a rendezvous or seminar setting. Their are annual social events succh as: Seminar Saturdays, The Charter Party, The Haul-Out Party, and Holiday Gathering.

First Friday Social Meet-up

During 2016, the Squadron began a new tradition of meeting at various local microbreweries on the first Friday of every month. This is a social gathering for boating enthusiasts open to members and guests. Check the current Boulder Beacon for information on location and times.

Education and Training Classes

Boulder Valley Squadron promotes self-education by holding a wide range of classes on boating topics. These classes are based on current materials developed within the USPS Organization and presented by experienced Squadron members. The format is typically one evening a week for 8-10 sessions. Some popular classes include; Sailing, Seamanship, Piloting, Weather, among others. Boulder Valley has the distinct privilege to offer a specialized Boating First Aid class developed by our own members. More details on class offerings may be found on the education page.
